the gently flaring sides rising from a tapering foot to an angled shoulder and incurved mouth, the sides finely painted with mandarin ducks and other water birds at leisure in a lotus pond above a keyfret border, the shoulder decorated with four bats and leafy floral scrolls against a lime-green ground and a gilt-painted rim, inscribed to the base with a six-character Daoguang seal mark in underglaze blue

The waterpot is in excellent condition with the exception of minor wear to the gilding along the rim.
