  • gilt-bronze
cast seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base, his right arm raised brandishing a kahdga, the left hand raised in vitarkamudra holding the stem of a lotus flower supporting a book, the gracefully swaying figure wearing a clinging dhoti and elaborate jewelled waist band and necklace with scarf draped around the shoulders and arms, the face with down-cast eyes and benevolent expression

Condition

The Manjushri has much of its gilding preserved with slight rubbing and oxidation. The stem of lotus flower held in the figure's hand is slightly loose but will not fall off. One of the tips of the tongue of fire at the edge of the kahdga is lost and some of the hardstones on the bejewelled necklaces are missing.
