Description

  • gilt-bronze
cast seated on a double lotus base in dhyanasana with legs crossed, hands folded in dhyanamudra, draped on one shoulder with a  sanghati  hemmed with classic foliate scrolls, an undergarment fitted high above the waist revealing the bare chest, the slightly plump face with a benign expression and a gentle smile, the hair in tight curls surmounted by an ushnisha

Condition

The Buddha is in general good condition with the exception of overall rubbing to the gilding particularly to the flesh area of the figure and casting flaws along the upper right arm of the figure. The attribute originally supported on the folded hands is now lost, leaving a pierced hole for attachment. The face features are slightly rubbed but traces of red pigment still remains.
