Description

  • bronze
of rectangular form with a long plain tapering handle, cast to the top and at the seal face with an inscription reading Xiongyue Zhenghongqi Manzhou fangyu zhi tu ji, Libu zao (A Record of Manchurian Defence of the Red Banner in Xiongyue; Made by the Ministry of Rites) paralleled with a Manchurian inscription, the two sides with the characters reading Qian zi yiwan wuqian wubai liushisan hao (Number 15,563 of Qian) and dated Qianlong sishiba nian shier yue ri (Twelve month of the forty-eighth year in Qianlong's reign), corresponding to 1783

Condition

The seal is in good condition with the exception of nibbling along the edges of the seal face and minor surface scratches and rubbing to the patination.
