intricately carved and pierced with a continuous equestrian battle scene from Sanguo zhi yanyi (Romance of the Three Kingdoms), depicting troops of soldiers holding the Sima flag just outside Xi Cheng (West City), above further folk figures at Yan Men (Goose Gate), all amidst an array of wutong trees, the ivory of creamy white tone darkening to the tip to a buff colour, carved and pierced wood stand

Condition
This finely carved ivory tusk is in very good condition with the exception of a 0.4 x 0.5cm., flake to the outside edge of the rim and very minor age hairline cracks and nibbling to the extremities of the carving.
