Description
- dyed ivory
carved with fringed leaves where a stalk of millet rests, a ladybird standing on one of the coral-coloured leaves and another standing on the end of the stalk, two naturalistic grasshoppers rendered in great detail perched on the cabbage, incised with Yang Runsheng ke (carved by Yang Runsheng), tied to the end with a silk ribbon with an inscription reading Hai Er Xiansheng ya shang, Yi An Gongsi jing zeng (For the Appreciation of Mr. Hai Er, Respectfully Given by Yi An Ltd.), brocaded glass box
Condition
The cabbage is in general good condition with the exception of 2.2 x 0.3cm loss to one of the leaves on the millet stalk, and a circa 1cm portion which has been broken off from one of the grasshopper's legs.
