Description
- gilt-bronze cloisonne enamel
the shape probably derived from European silver, the knobbed stem decorated with floral sprays within ruyi borders and plantain leaf lappets on a gilt ground, the drip pan moulded with foaming sea waves encircled by a pierced fence, all supported on an apron with stylised lotus scrolls and ruyi feet
Condition
The candlestick is in general good condition with the exception of minor areas of loss particularly to the pierced fence, pinprick burst air bubbles and minor surface scratchings. The top of the candlestick is adhered with a layer of wax with patches of green verdigris.
