Description

  • gilt-bronze cloisonne enamel
the bell-shaped base decorated in bright cloisonné enamels on a turquoise ground with leafy lotus scrolls between linked ruyi-heads, all framed by further bands of meandering floral scrolls, the knobbed stem cast with leafy lotus scrolls enhanced with gilt, supporting a circular drip pan with flaring sides similarly decorated with lotus scrolls, the base inscribed with a four-character Qianlong mark within a double square border

Condition

The candlestick is in general good condition with the exception of slight wear to the gilding, pinprick holes on the enamels and minor nicks with associated enamel losses, particularly around the bell-shaped base where the knobbed stem is attached. There is a needle pierced across the knobbed stem just above the drip pan.
