Description

  • jade
of irregular form, deeply carved to the front with a figure standing on a rocky ledge holding a large peach beside a crane under a peach blossom, all above a deer standing by a pine tree, beside a waterfall gushing into ripples at the base, a small boy sitting by the banks overlooking a boat loaded with a basket of lingzhi, the reverse with a deer, lingzhi spray and a blossoming peach tree on a slope above a standing crane, all amid jagged rocks framed by a gnarled pine tree, the stone of pale celadon tone with russet flecks to the base

Condition

This piece is in good condition with the exception of tiny losses of the top rocky edge of the jade mountain, the tip of the object held in the small boy's hand (probably originally a ruyi sceptre), and a branch from the pine tree beside the deer on the front face. The stone is of a paler and warmer celadon tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
