Description

one carved in the form of a peach on a leafy sprig flanked by a pair of bats; the other of a pebble carved on one side with a child watching over a pair of deer in a river landscape with lingzhi sprays and pine trees, a butterfly and bat hovering in the misty sky above, the reverse decorated with a reclining figure admiring the moon in a rocky seascape with pine trees and a distant pavilion, inscribed with two lines from a famous poem, Shan Ju Qiu Ming, by Wang Wei (701-761)

Condition

The pebble is in general good condition with the exception of a tiny nibble in the pine tree near the top of the front face. The peach has a 2mm chip to the tip of one of the leaves, several light bruises on the bat to the front face and the twigs of the leafy branch, some natural flaws of the stone including some tiny nibbles to the side of the peach, patches of grey discolouration on the russet flecks on the front of the peach.
