Description

  • jade
one carved recumbent with right foreleg raised, its head turned back to the left with a large lingzhi spray clutched in its mouth, the stone of celadon tone with russet and grey inclusions; the other mythical beast depicted crouching on its right rear leg, with protruding round eyes under thick eyebrows and a snout with flattened thick lips, its mane intricately depicted with deft lines, the bifurcated tail curled alongside its haunch, the stone of celadon green with russet skin and some calcification

Condition

The larger beast in general good condition with the exception of several short (3-4mm) scratches at the rear back of the animal and a tiny scratch on the snout, and natural flaws of the stone including veins running along the spine of the beast with associated flakes, tiny nibbles to the ear, horn, and hind hooves and a small (4mm x 3mm) natural flake to the base of the tail. The other animal retains much of its original russet skin and a little less polished in area, with natural veining and associated flakes across the surface, nibbles around the edge of the tail as a result of the natural skin texture of the stone.
