Description
- gilt-bronze
seated in dhyanasana with legs crossed on a double lotus throne surrounded by scrolling ribbons, one hand raised to his chest in karanamudra holding an upright karmavajra and the other in dhyanamudra supporting a medicine bowl, his face with a gentle smile and downcast eyes, wearing a five-leaf tiara and long pendent earrings, the chest adorned with beaded necklaces, his legs lightly incised with fine lotus scrolls
Condition
Much of the patination has been removed from the boddhisatva but traces of gilt remain around the hood and the face. One of the pendent earrings is loose but will not fall off. There are patches of verdigris along the area where the figure is seated on the throne. Fault in the casting process is visible particular in the uneven surface nicks near the left leg and around the back. The hair retains traces of blue pigment.
