Description

  • Paint, embroidery on silk
the rectangular panel finely woven and enahnced with painted details depicting the Eight Daoist Immortals, Hehe erxian and other figures set in an idyllic landscape with pine trees and winding rocky paths, behind them the Three Star Gods with acolytes standing on a porch of a pavilion emerging from further rockwork, their hands clasped in the manner of paying tribute to Xiwangmu (Queen Mother of the West) riding atop of a soaring phoenix with lady attendants amid clouds, mounted on a brocaded scroll

Condition

The kesi scroll is in good condition with the exception of a circa 1.5 x 1cm loss with associated loose threads on a mountain near the top of the panel. There are other minor areas of loss, loose threads, light foxing and dirt. The colours of the panel seems to have faded but is nevertheless well-preserved.
