A CARVED TURQUOISE MOUNTAIN QING DYNASTY

carved on one face with a pair of deer in front of wutong and possibly cypress trees issuing from jagged rocks, the reverse similarly carved with further wutong and pine trees issuing from rockwork in front of a cragged mountain, the stone of turquoise tone with dark veining

The mountain has major losses to the front face of the carving, as seen in the wutong tree trunk with associated leaves, the tip of the deer's tail, one side and the top of the mountain. Similar losses are found on the reverse on the base of the wutong tree trunk and the rock face behind due to natural veining of the stone. The stone is of a slightly warmer turquoise tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
