Description

carved in the form of a buckling horse with its head lowered to a base of foaming water ripples, the stone of even white tone; together with a smiling boy dressed in loose fitted robes carrying a large plantain leaf on his back, the stone of even white tone

Condition

Both white jade carvings are in excellent condition with the exception of slight nibbling to the extremities of the carving such as the horse's pointy ears and a minute (0.2 x 0.1cm) bruise to the lower edge of the plantain leaf on the boy's back. The stones are of a darker celadon tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
