Description

the cylindrical vessel finely carved in high relief around the exterior with a continuous rocky landscape depicting literati in leisurely pursuits amongst meandering pine trees, inscribed He Qiji ke (carved by He Qiji) on an overhanging rock near the rim, the bamboo patinated to a reddish-brown tone

Condition

The brushpot is in very good condition with the exception of a triangular (7mm x 5mm) scratch near the bottom, minute losses to the pine trees, and minor vertical age cracks to the base. The patina is of a more reddish tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
