each with two doors decorated with shaped rectangular panels enclosing mountainous river landscapes with retreats below floral-shaped panels of peony and prunus, on a lattice ground, opening to a red lacquer interior with two shelves, above a further panel of a bird on a flowering prunus branch, the sides with similar landscape and flower panels, bordered with a foliate scroll

Condition

The pair of cabinets are in reasonably good condition. Both have regular horizontal cracking lines to the lacquer on every external surface which is consistent with age. On the one cabinet there is a chip to the front right corner of the top (2 x 1cm) and smaller chips to the front edge of the top. There is a (20cm) repaired split to the centre of the top surface. There are damaged areas of lacquer to each short leg about the bronze mounted feet. There is also some chips/ loss to the black lacquer to the front edge of the lower shelf. The red lacquer to the interior is generally in good condition, but has some losses to the front edges of the shelves. On the other cabinet there is a chip to the lacquer to the front left corner of the top (1.5 x 1.5cm). There is also a chip to the lacquer to the left side of the top (1.5 x 3.5cm) and another to the left of centre of the top (1.5 x 1cm). There is also various chips/ losses to the front edge of the top. There is a break to the back right leg that has been repaired and lacquer loss to the front red leg and further smaller losses to the front edge of this leg. There is also some minor lacquer losses to the front left leg and some slight repair to the lacquer to the top left area of the right door (4 x 1cm) and a few areas to the upper half of the right side of the cabinet. The red lacquer to the interior is in good condition except for some losses to the front edge of the shelf.
