the deity seated in rajalilasana on a lotus base raised on a fluted plinth, one hand in bhumisparsamudra resting on the raised knee and the other lowered in varadamudra on the lap, dressed in loosely draped robes opening at the chest to reveal elaborate beaded necklaces, hair piled up in a high chignon behind a five-leaf diadem, flanked by two attendants (Jintong and Yunu) standing on either side and holding attributes, all set in front of a flaming mandorla with a water sprinkler and a bird at the shoulder level of the deity, glazed in shades of turquoise and blue leaving the figures' bodies and attributes unglazed; together with a similarly decorated fahua figure of a Bodhisattva
Condition
The figure of Guanyin with attendants is in good condition with the exception of a circa 0.4cm chip to the thumb of her right hand, chips to the leaf tips of the tiara (1 x 1.5cm) and losses to the flowers surrounding it. There is a 1.5cm loss to the shawl on the female attendant's shoulder and other minor glaze firing imperfections such as firing crack (circa 6cm) along the legs of the figure etc. The back of the figure as a 3 x 3cm circular opening to the back.
The other figure has chips to the thumb, index and middle fingers of her right hand and the thumb and little finger on her left hand. There is a 0.5cm chip to the tassel suspending on the left from the crown. There is a 4 x 1.5cm triangular area broken off from the tiara which has now been repaired and re-adhered with small areas of loss to the tips (circa 0.5cm). The back of the drapery near the shoulder line has a 0.5 x 0.3cm chip. The back has a square opening measuring circa 1.8 x 1.8cm. Other minor firing imperfections are also visible such as minor firing cracks and kiln grits.
