Description

of mirror image, each bird standing on a mottled green and blue rock base with one leg raised, depicted with bulging eyes, an iron-red crown and a long beak, the white feathers highlighted in blue and enhanced with green-edged black feathers

Condition

One in good condition with the exception of enamel loss, the largest area measuring 2 x 0.7cm), and uneven distribution of the white enamel on the crane's body. The other is extensively oversprayed at the bottom half of the neck, possibly to conceal a crack which is more than 7cm long. There are a 0.3 x 0.3cm chip to the back, areas of enamel loss (max. 1.5 x 1cm) and minor glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles, iron spots etc.
