each seated on jagged rocks with legs apart, one arm supporting a curled leafy spray and the other holding a gold ingot, dressed in loose fitted robes belted at the waist, the cheerful face with a broad smile and long beard below a winged cap, glazed overall in green, yellow and aubergine leaving the head and limbs white, fitted wood stands

Condition

Both figures adhered to wood stands, so the undersides not inspected. The figure to the left of catalogue image with restoration to the right hand section of this cap; to the lotus flower head and its lower steam; as well as to both wrists (suggesting that both hands have been off) and to the inner sleeve of right arm. One chip to the right eyebrow. The second figure, illustrated to the right of image, with restoration to the tip of floral head, the stem and the wrist of right hand; the left hand and ingot-shaped dish most likely replaced. Both with minor firing imperfections. One with Maillie & Co, Paris sticker to reverse.
