the deep rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to a flaring rim, painted to the central medallion with two birds perched on a gnarled blossoming peony branch above a carp leaping out of turbulent foaming waves, encircled by four shaped landscape and floral panels reserved on a leafy ground of blossoming lotus, the rim bordered by lobed panels of floral decoration set against further floral blossoms on a dotted ground, the base with square seal within a double circle

Condition

The underside has a circa 7cm hairline running across the foot, there are surface scratchings (longest 2cm) and minor glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles, iron spots. The base with a Bluett & Sons sticker and incised with a possible inventory number 'Ni 107. I').
