the cylindrical body finely enamelled with a pair of birds in flight above large blossoming chrysanthemums and leafy stems, with a cricket, a praying mantis and a pair of butterflies in flight above, all above a band of lotus lappets at the foot, the shoulder enamelled with a wide band of shaped cartouches enclosing florets reserved on a diaper ground, with ruyi-head, key fret, cloud scroll and upright lappet borders to the neck

Condition

This brightly enamelled rouleau is in fair overall condition with the exception of two hairline body cracks (23 and 26cm.) one with an associated 8cm., hairline, a drill hole to the base with associated flake and short hairline crack, a 2cm., wide flake to the underside of the rim and minor glaze firing imperfections including iron-spot glaze impurities, burst glaze bubbles and minor glaze scratches.
