brightly painted in red, green and yellow with three trapezium-shaped panels enclosing prunus, lotus and peony, divided by fish-scale ground panels issuing from large ruyi heads, all reserved on a red ground with stylised leafy foliage and further lobed floral panels, the shoulder with an apron enclosing alternating red and aubergine demi-chrysanthemum florets amongst leafy scrolls reserved against a fish-scale ground, the waisted neck with a band of upright flame motifs, skirted around the foot with a stylised scroll band, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a large knop

Condition
The jar and cover are in good overall condition with the exception of a 5cm., long hairline rim crack to the jar and minor glaze firing imperfections including adhered kiln grit, iron-spot glaze impurities, burst glaze bubbles and minor glaze scratches.
