Description

heavily potted and of baluster form, the high rounded shoulders rising from a recessed base to a short wide neck, freely carved in relief to the exterior with four lotus blooms borne on meandering leafy stems above a band of upright petal lappets, covered overall with a celadon glaze, the unglazed rim and the wedge-shaped foot rim burnt orange in the firing, wood stand and cover
Condition
The jar is in good condition with the exception of a 1.5 x 1cm recessed spot near the petal tip of one of the lotus blooms as a result of firing, extensive and noticeable network of cracking to the recessed base of the jar which is also visible from the exterior and minor surface scratchings. Other glaze firing imperfections include iron spots, burst glaze bubbles, minute glaze chips etc.
