Description

  • porcelain
of hexagonal section, each side moulded in low relief with a rectangular panel enclosing two sinuous chilong flanking a single shou character roundel in the centre, all reserved on a diaper ground cornered by stylised florets and below a similarly decorated apron atop, raised on a plinth decorated with a meandering leafy scroll with alternating lotus and hibiscus bloom and six ruyi-shaped feet, the pierced domed cover painted with foaming waves crashing on rocks and surmounted by a recumbent qilin finial

Condition

In very good condition with the exception of small chips (largest 0.2 x 0.2cm) along raised edges of the censer and cover and traces of enamel loss (the largest area measuring 0.3 x 0.2cm). There are other minor glaze firing imperfections including burst glaze bubbles and iron spots.
