Description
- porcelain
of ogee form rising from a tapering foot, painted in bright enamels to the exterior with the 'hundred boys' engaged in various pursuits, some holding lantern, lotus, pomegranate while some light firecrackers and gather around a fishbowl, all set in a fenced garden with trees and banana plantain, the base inscribed in iron-red with a studio mark in seal characters reading 'xie zhu zhu ren zao' (made by the Master of Wind Music)
Condition
The bowl is in good condition with the exception of minor firing cracks along the foot ring at the base (the longest measuring 1.5cm), very minor enamel loss, and minor glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles and iron spots (particularly to the interior). The rim still has traces of brown enamelling.
