Description

each with deep rounded sides rising from a straight foot to a flaring rim, painted to the exterior in bright enamels with a magpie hovering above prunus blossoms on one side and leafy sprays of peony and fruiting Buddhist citron on the reverse, inscribed in iron-red near the rim with the Daya Zhai mark and a seal reading tiandi yijia chun ('heaven and earth enjoying spring as one'), all reserved against a rich purple ground and between gilt borders encircling the rim and above the footring, the base inscribed in iron-red with four characters reading yongqing changchun ('eternal celebration of everlasting spring')

Condition

Both bowls are in very good condition with the exception of slight missfiring/bubbling to small areas of the purple enamel on both bowls.
