Description

of octagonal section, the globular body rising from a straight foot to a tall waisted neck flaring at the rim, painted with a continuous scene of a dignitary sheltered in a large Mongolian tent with a flying flag inscribed 'Daji' ('auspicious'), surrounded by equestrian figures, officials and attendants engaged in various hunting and preparation activities amidst grazing saddled horses, reclining camels and hunting dogs, all set in a campsite with half-barren trees and distant mountains

Condition

This large and impressive vase is in very good condition with the exception of a 10 x 8mm (max) rim flake and minor glaze firing imperfections including an iron spot on the foot, tiny iron glaze spots and pinhole burst glaze bubbles and very minor glaze scratches.
