each with deep rounded sides rising from a short foot to a flaring gilt rim, decorated in bright enamels on the exterior with four gilt-edged medallions enclosing scenes from the love story of Niu Lang (the Cowherd) and Zhinu (Maiden of Weaving), divided by stylised lotus blooms borne on leafy scrolls and supporting a cluster of peach fruits, all reserved on a pale blue ground, the interior painted in underglaze-blue with a scene of the reunion of the couple on the bridge of magpies over the Milky Way within a double circle, the well with further magpies interspersed between billowing clouds, inscribed with a six-character Daoguang seal mark at the base
Condition
Both with enamel flakes to exterior and minor firing imperfections. One with the rim possibly slightly polished with associated losses to gilding on rim.
