the shallow sides rising from a short tapering foot to a flaring rim, incised to the central medallion with a five-clawed dragon in profile and a flaming pearl amongst radiating cloud scrolls, the exterior with two sinuous dragons chasing flaming pearls amongst cloud wisps, covered overall with an irregularly applied green ground with details picked out in manganese-yellow, the base inscribed with a six-character Jiajing mark within a double circle

Condition

This rare dish is in good condition with the exception of a restored flake to the underside of the rim and an associated circa 2.5cm.,hairline rim crack, very short and minor firing cracks (circa 0.5cm) to the central medallion, a later incised cross at the middle of the Jiajing mark at the base, a slight warp to the body, minor surface scratchings and other glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles, iron spots etc..
