  • gilt-bronze cloisonne enamel
the bell-shaped body surmounted by a knopped stem, brightly decorated with undulating lotus scrolls reserved on a turquoise ground, skirted around the foot with florets and leafy scrolls, the shoulder collared with stylised shan and lappet bands, the knop with matching decoration and a hole at the top for attachment to hookah pipes

Condition

The hookah base shows areas of enamel loss and subsequent re-filling particularly evident round the shoulders and the collar. There are in general pitting to the enamelling and tiny pinprick burst air bubbles.
