Description
- gilt bronze and cloisonne enamel
of circular form, the domed cover brightly enamelled with a central medallion enclosing a flying dragon hovering above a recumbent tiger in a ground of scattered bajixiang symbols and scrolling foliage, all encircled by a band of stylised floral sprays with butterflies and bats, the rounded sides with beribboned attributes of the Eight Daoist Immortals (an baxian) alternating with cranes between ruyi head bands, the decoration repeated on the box, skirted with petal lappets at the foot
Condition
The box and cover is in good condition, but does have one small (1cm by 1cm) area to the lower section of the box where the surface enamel has chipped off. There is also some general pitting to the enamel to the box and the cover. There is some dents to the interior gilt metal rim of the base and there is some surface scratching and wear to the gilding of the interior.
