Description
- gilt bronze cloisonne censer
of bombé form raised on three cabriole legs, the short tapering neck surmounted by an everted rim and flanked by a pair of upright U-shaped handles, decorated overall in bright enamels with meandering leafy scrolls bearing red, yellow and white florets below a narrow scroll band, all set against a turquoise ground, the domed cover carved and pierced in the form of a lotus leaf with squirrels perched on grape vines surmounted by a knop in the form of a chrysanthemum floret with blue and turquoise petals
Condition
Some pitting and losses to the enamels. The exposed bronze to the rim, handles and feet with minor nicks, scratching and wear. The wood cover with small chips and losses to carving; with loss to the inlaid or enamelled surmount of finial.
