Description

- 37cm., 14.6in. long
modelled as a recumbent tiger with a broad mouth, pierced nostrils and bold eyes, freely painted with black stripes on a flame-coloured ground, its back with a cream-ground panel containing a bird within a lozenge

Christie's London, 10th June 1991, lot 77.
Condition
There are several areas of glaze chip particularly to the extremities such as the nose and ears of the tiger, the curved edges of the pillow (largest measuring circa 1 x 1cm). The tail has a 2 x 1cm grit and another 0.4 x 0.4cm grit near it. Other minor glaze firing imperfections include burst glaze bubbles and iron spots.
