Description

  • 24cm., 9½in.
finely cast in the form of a recumbent xiniu, with its head turned back over its body, the head with short beard, large eyes and ears held on either side of the upward curved horn, the back supporting a crescent-form mirror-holding rising from billowing clouds, the bronze of a rich brown patina with traces of gilding

Condition

One semi-circular loss and associated crack to the lower rim of reverse, measuring approximately 20mm x 9mm at widest point. Other smaller chips and dents to the bronze. Rubbing to gilding and surface wear.
