  • bronze
of oval form with deep rounded sides flanked by two arc handles, each cast with an X-form diaper band, the base of the interior cast with a six-character inscription framed by a chevron border, the bronze with extensive malachite encrustation,

Condition

The cup has a triangular (1 x 0.7cm) area of loss just under one of the ears, and a circa 3cm crack running vertically under the opposite ear leading to another loss measuring 0.8 x 0.4cm. There are eight other smaller areas of loss and another circa 3cm crack on the rounded sides of the cup. The surface of the bronze has extensive malachite encrustations.
