Description

  • stoneware
of widely flared shallow form, the interior carved with six radiating panels of boys holding lotus stems alternating with floral sprays with spiky trefoil leaves, the division between the panels extending to shallow notches at the rim, the underside carved with large flowerheads around the low foot of wedge-shaped section, covered overall with a bubbled translucent olive-green glaze, the foot rim left unglazed showing the fine-grained grey ware

Condition

In excellent condition. A few glaze inclusions to the interior centre, as visible in the catalogue image. The bowl particularly well carved to the exterior where the glaze attractively pools in the recesses. The glaze of a slightly less olive tone than as suggested in the catalogue image.
