finely carved as two lotus pods, one larger than the other, on a bed of meandering lotus buds and curled leaves all tied into a beribboned bundle, two smiling boys dressed in loose robes tugging the leafy tendrils on which two butterflies perch, the stone of translucent pale celadon tone with a smooth and lustrous polish, wood stand

Condition

The carving has a circa 1.5cm crack along one of the leafy tendrils near the boy's foot, a light bruise (0.3 x 0.1cm) at the edge of the larger lotus pod, and several minor chips and nibbling along the edges and the extremities (such as on one of the lotus leaves on the underside). The stone is of an more celadon tone compared to the catalogue illustration, and has traces of russet inclusion.
