A LARGE CARVED IVORY FIGURE OF A MAIDEN LATE QING DYNASTY

the tall standing figure wearing long loose robes falling in folds around her body, her hair arranged in an elaborate chignon, holding a long rose stem in her hands, wood stand

Condition

A 3cm section of the shawl on the left shoulder of the figure have been broken off, three sections have been broken off from stem of roses held in her hands, these have now been repaired with traces of glue around the seam. The top of the chignon of the figure has a circular (1 x 1.5cm) crack which might have been caused by an impact force. There are occasional age cracks running across the surface of the ivory, predominantly at the back of the figure, around the face, the hair and the base. Black pigment on the eyes of the figure is worn in places.
