Description

  • jade
carved from a stone of an even white tone, the tapering trumpet form vessel issuing from an elephant head with a curled trunk, decorated in low relief on the front and back with a chilong clambering up the vessel below a band of archaistic c-scrolls, the russet skin cleverly incorporated as two further chilong with bifurcated tails flanking the sides

The rhyton is in excellent condition.
