Description
- JADEITE
the compressed globular body supported on three short legs, carved to the exterior with archaistic scrolls and masks, the lipped rim hemmed with a chevron border, flanked by a pair of animal mask handles suspending loose rings, the domed cover similarly decorated, carved with radiating lappets surrounded by three ruyi-shaped extensions suspending loose rings on the large knop, the stone of an apple green tone marbled with milky-white and emerald inclusions
Condition
A 3 x 0.3cm area was broken from the rim of the censer, and one of the loose rings on the dragon handle was broken into two pieces, these have now been repaired and re-adhered with associated seams and chips. There are minor nibbling along the edges of the carving.
