Description

  • Jade
carved standing on two webbed feet, its head raised and the long beak pierced with an aperture as a spout, with wings carved with archaistic scrolls, volute and hook, the tail with elaborate feathery plumage, the tapered neck of the vessel supported on the back of the bird and encircled by a band of stylised scrolls below plantain leaves, flanked by a loop suspending oval rings and a U-shaped handle, the domed cover surmounted by a coiled dragon, the stone of a pale celadon tone with occasional russet veining

Condition

The goose-form ewer is in excellent condition with the exception of minor chips and bruising along the extremities.
