  • porcelain
of compressed circular form rising from a splayed rectangular foot to a tapering cylindrical neck, the shoulders set with a pair of ruyi handles, the flattened sides moulded with peach-shaped panels, finely painted in underglaze blue with five peaches borne on leafy branches and two bats in flight, framed by a continuous lotus scroll with leafy stems, the narrow sides painted with a lingzhi scroll, with a further lotus scroll at the neck and leafy trellis scroll at the foot

Condition

The top part of the neck is cut and trimmed, as seen from the catalogue illustration. There is a circa 20cm hairline running diagonally from one side of the flask, across the base to the other side. Surface scrathings ranging from 0.5-2cm and other minor glaze firing imperfections such as iron spots and burst glaze bubbles.
