  • Textile, silk
finely embroidered in silk and gold threads with an incarnation of the Buddha emerging from lotus lappets, his loose robes open at the chest to reveal a wan symbol, surrounded by a flaming mandorla, mounted and framed

Provenance

Acquired in London in 1977.

Condition

Not inspected outside of its clip frame. The textile fragment severely frayed along three of the four sides; the silk ground slightly discoloured, the original embroidery very well retained.
