Description
- lacquered bronze
cast seated with legs crossed in dhyanasana on a double lotus petal base, one hand raised to the chest in vitarkamudra and the other lifted above the shoulders, wearing a long flowing dhoti embellished by elaborate beaded necklaces around the chest and a shawl falling over the shoulders, the face with a benign expression with downcast eyes and long ears suspending large pendent earrings, all below a five-leaf tiara in front of a high chignon, covered in a layer of lacquer in rich red tone mottled with darker flecks
Condition
The base unsealed. Its original lacquer much preserved with occasional chips and flakes particularly to the extremities (the largest circa 1 x 0.8cm). Some nicks and losses such as that to the right thumb and little finger (largest 0.5 x 0.2cm). Minor scratchings to the face and one corner of the lotus base (circa 3cm).
