comprising three slender ovoid vases with associated covers and a pair of gu-shaped beaker vases all decorated in rich cobalt-blue tones; the baluster vases each with a central scene depicting a female dancer and various musicians performing in front of a seated female dignitary flanked by attendants holding a fan or cloth bundles, the neck encircled with prunus sprays, the gu vases each with a matching figurative scene on the trumpet neck and court ladies in leisurely pursuits within garden settings on the knop and the lower section, all scenes divided by chevron borders, the base with an artemisia leaf within a double circle
Condition
The garniture is in good condition with the exception of minor surface scratchings and glaze firing imperfections such as iron spots and burst glaze bubbles. The bases are written with 'D.1076' at the base.
One covered vase is in excellent condition. The other covered vase has two 3cm hairlines running vertically down the rim and a 1.2cm firing crack to the base. The third covered vase has a 2 x 1cm chip to the rim of the cover. The covers are possibly matched and stuck.
One beaker vase has a 1 x 0.5cm chip to the rim, the other beaker vase has a discoloured burst glaze bubble to the rim and a 1.5cm scratch to the base.
