Description

  • porcelain
of slightly waisted cylindrical form, the exterior painted in underglaze-blue with a figure accompanied by a warrior and paying tribute to a crouching woodcutter, in the distance a bearded sage fishing by the banks, all set amongst a landscape with rocks, shrubs, willow trees and misty cloud scrolls, the foot and the rim incised with stylised floral and chevron borders

Condition

There is extensive fritting along the mouth rim of the brushpot. Aside from minor glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles, iron spots etc., the brushpot is in general very good condition.
