Description

  • porcelain
of ovoid form surmounted by a short neck, painted in bright cobalt-blue shades with a frieze of sixteen children engaged in various games in a fenced garden, all above a lappet band, the shoulder collared with pendant ruyi heads above a double line border, encircled at the neck with a keyfret band, the base with a six-character Jiajing mark within a double circle

Condition

The jar has a 1 x 0.2cm restored area and a restored U-shaped line (circa 4cm) across the rim, repainting is visible. There are minor areas of glaze pool (largest 0.3 x 0.1cm) and fritting along the rim edge, a minute glaze chip to the base near the mark, a 1cm scratch to the rockwork, other minor surface scratchings and minor firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles and iron spots.
