of ingot shape, the domed cover painted in bright cobalt-blue tones with two phoenix, one male and one female, amidst meandering composite floral scrolls, all encircled by floral sprays and a classic scroll band, the decoration repeated in the box, inscribed to the base with a six-character Jiajing mark

Condition

The cover has been broken into four sections and restored with some gold-lacquer repair to the exterior, sprayed to the interior, and overpainting to a circa 9cm., section of the rim, the glaze of the box has bubbled/missfired along the edge of the rim with some staining, the interior glaze is degraded.
