Description

the hexalobed ovoid body rising from raised hollow foot to a short waisted neck, applied at the shoulder with three cherub head masks above underglaze-blue leafy sprays and divided by further floral sprays, all above a simple lotus band and raised horizontal rib at the foot and below a border of three florets at the neck, together with Japanese domed pierced metal cover
Condition
The jar is in good overall condition with the exception of a gold-lacquer repair to a circa 5mm., wide rim chip and associated 1cm., hairline rim crack, a 1cm., hairline rim crack, fritting to the faces of the cherubs and fritting around the edge of the foot, minor rim fritting, and glaze firing imperfections including a 3.5cm., glaze line at the neck and short firing lines inside the foot, iron spots, a small glaze pull and minor glaze scratches.
